About the Author
All essays at ASW are written by Todd Jerome Satter, a Presidential Fellow and doctoral student in the History, Theory and Criticism of Architecture and Art at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a professional Master of Architecture degree and a Master of Science in Architecture History and Theory. His academic work has been published internationally in journals of philosophy, cultural theory and architecture. He has conducted design research on travel fellowships to Italy, France and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He has taught courses in architectural history and theory, as well as design studies for more than five years, before which he worked for architecture firms in Seattle and San Francisco. His current research interests focus on the confluence of ontology and aesthetics, temporality and excess within architectural discourse, spatial practices, media and the visual arts.
